Choosing Kelly Knaub Photography:

When James and Caroline began planning their special day, they knew they wanted a photographer who could not only capture the moments but also infuse them with a unique perspective.

“We chose Kelly Knaub because her photos have a perspective. Kelly has a knack for translating the joy and spirit of the moment into the perfect shot. Kelly is also an excellent human and she made us feel comfortable,” James and Caroline shared. It was more than just photography; it was about having someone who could understand and freeze-frame the essence of their celebration.

The Wedding Day Feelings:

On the wedding day, Caroline felt a serene readiness. She says “I just felt ready. After putting on my dress a calm washed over me and I was excited to enjoy the day.”

Jame was beaming all morning. When I asked how he felt that day, James says “Excited! No matter what else happened, we would be married at the end of the day!”

Preparation for the Big Day:

With a short engagement, decisions had to be swift but meaningful. James and Caroline chose to have a John Wright Wedding because it was the perfect blend of industrial aesthetics, high ceilings, and large windows, providing a picturesque backdrop to their love story. The couple also expressed their love for nature, making the Susquehanna River an ideal choice for an outdoor ceremony.

The significant touches of creativity that came from Caroline and James were breathtaking. Caroline throws pottery and James paints watercolors. Caroline showcased her work by handcrafting the table centerpieces, adding a personal touch to the decor. While James painted the table numbers, seating chart and other items used throughout the hall. James curated the music playlist, while DJ Puff brought his musical selections to life.

First Look Impressions:

I chose to do Caroline and James’s first look close to the water since that was an important part of why they chose to have a John Wright Wedding. Caroline says “It felt a little surreal. As a woman, you grow-up thinking about you wedding day and it was happening.” For James, it was simple and flawless – he says “I thought Caroline’s dress was perfect.”

Timeless Love:

Nestled in the embrace of history, John Wright Restaurant proved to be more than just a wedding venue for James and Caroline—it was a canvas that painted their love against the backdrop of time. Choosing to capture their couple’s portraits by the Lime Kilns, remnants of the nineteenth-century Wrightsville Industry, added a layer of significance to their celebration. In those moments framed by the Lime Kilns, James and Caroline not only created their own memories but became a part of the rich tapestry of the venue’s storied past.

Ceremony by the Water:

James and Caroline’s wedding ceremony unfolded against the scenic backdrop of the Susquehanna River. Caroline and James agreed, “We chose the venue for a million little reasons that made it feel like the perfect spot for us. James and I both love being in nature and we knew we wanted to get married outside.” The John Wright Wedding venue, with its riverside charm, set the stage for a truly beautiful celebration of James and Caroline’s love story.

When asked what were some of their favorite images from the day, Caroline said, “We LOVE the osprey you captured flying over us during the ceremony.” This was a great moment that caught my eye and I only had a few seconds to grab that shot. I am so happy I was in the right place at the right time.

“You’ve got a Friend in Me”…

…set the tone for their first dance, a song that held sentimental value from the early days of their relationship. Caroline says, “We use to dance in the kitchen to this song when we first started dating. I also felt like it was a good reminder that throughout our life we would find friendship in each other.”
